What was the summit about?

Power & Responsibility debated regulation, trust and the unintended consequences of the digital age. And it explored the technology response to the challenges before us.

Check out photographs from the summit day, by Fran Hales.

The summit looked at the digital changes taking place across society and the economy. It covered critical themes including privacy, online safety, trust, developer ethics and fake news.

We looked at the challenges that these issues present, and the policy and technology solutions to them. We asked if regulation is the answer – or if technology itself holds the answers to the problems its application has created.

We’ve produced a Power & Responsibility discussion paper, taking forward issues debated at the summit. The paper is open for public comment until Wednesday 31 October.
